 |
“We are deeply saddened to learn that Ed Walker has passed away. Ed was a strong and passionate advocate for Bethlehem Steel’s nuclear workers, and we are proud to have had the opportunity to fight by his side. We will honor his memory by continuing that fight, and will not rest until justice is done for these Cold War heroes and their families.”
Edwin Walker, a resident of Hamburg, New York was an employee at Bethlehem Steel more than 50 years ago, when uranium was rolled at the plant as part of the U.S. nuclear weapons program. As Founder of the Bethlehem Steel Action Group, Ed was a tireless and outspoken advocate who fought to win compensation under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program for former Bethlehem workers who were exposed to radiation while working at the plant. |
