“Today Governor Eliot Spitzer appointed Western New York resident Patrick Curley to serve on the New York Power Authority Board of Trustees. This decision clearly demonstrates that Governor Spitzer understands that the power and revenue generated by the Niagara Power Plant deserves more balanced representation at the NYPA Trustee table.
The Niagara Power Plant generates more electricity than all the other power producing NYPA facilities combined and is the second largest producer in the nation. Yet, according to NYPA’s own study, 86% of the Niagara plant’s economic benefit leaves the area. Our fight continues for a greater share of the benefits made possible by this economic asset that is naturally ours.
Pat is a highly qualified business leader who will bring accountability to the Board and will actively serve to improve efficiencies system-wide and defend Western New York’s best interests.”
