Higgins’ Office Assisted African Rotary Member Obtain Visa
On Friday, June 1, 2007 Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) met with Rotarians from Ethiopia and Kenya spending time in Western New York through a month long Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program.
On May 3, 2007 five members of Rotary District 9200 in East Africa arrived in Buffalo for the month long exchange program. Over the last several weeks the young business and professional women and men have participated in activities and learned about the local community as they traveled through Grand Island, Ellicottville, Olean, Salamanca, Jamestown, Westfield, Fredonia, Clarence, Leroy, Lockport and Buffalo. Their stops focused on observations and learning experiences related to industry, education, recreation, social services, agriculture, history and health care. As an exchange, a GSE team from District 7090 (WNY & Southern Ontario) has just traveled to Rotary District 9200.
Congressman Higgins’ office assisted Ethiopian Rotary member Tehetna Lisanework, a young mother working in marketing and business management, obtain a visa granting her access into the United States.
