On Friday, February 23rd, Congressman Higgins held a Congressional staff briefing on upcoming Farm Bill issues and other Northeast agriculture matters with Representatives Randy Kuhl (NY-29) , Kirsten Gillibrand (NY-20) , and Tim Holden (PA-17) .
“The Farm Bill helps ensure that agricultural producers can continue to feed, clothe, and provide renewable fuels for Americans” said Congressman Higgins. “Agriculture is not a partisan issue, it is a regional issue. It is important for the Northeast, which has been traditionally under-represented in federal agriculture programs, to form a strong and effective bloc in support of our agriculture interests.”
The meeting focused on areas of primary interest to the Northeast Agriculture community, including dairy, crop insurance, renewable energy, conservation, nutrition and specialty crops issues.
