Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) announced the City of Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority (BMHA) has been awarded a $63,048 grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The federal funds were made available through HUD’s Resident Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (ROSS) program.
“This program connects residents with the tools available to help them stand on their own two feet,” said Congressman Higgins.
This HUD program provides public housing authorities with funds to hire a program coordinator responsible for linking residents with training opportunities, job placement organizations and local employers. Residents involved in the ROSS program enter into a contract of participation which outlines their responsibilities toward completion of a successful transition from welfare assistance to work. Escrow credit may be awarded to families reaching contracted goals.
