Buffalo, NY–Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) announced $100,000 for improvements to Brush Mountain Park in Orchard Park. The funds will be used to improve playground equipment and landscaping. This funding is included in the Fiscal Year 2007 Transportation, Treasury, and HUD (TTHUD) Appropriations bill passed in the House of Representatives last night.
“Brush Mountain Park is a great gem for the residents of Orchard Park, and I am pleased that we were able to secure this funding, which will keep Brush Mountain Park beautiful, provide children with a safe place to play, and contribute to further economic development in the Southtowns," said Higgins
The 75 acre park located on California Road serves the community by providing four baseball diamonds, playground equipment and a recreation building. The town is open from dawn to dusk and is available for public use. The park is often used as a gathering spot for various community events.
The federal funds secured by Congressman Higgins will be used to improve the playground equipment and the landscaping of the park. This investment will ultimately lead to the building of a senior center, enabling the park to further and better serve the residents of Orchard Park, and creating further economic development in the area.
