Higgins: Over $9 Million In Stimulus Funds Slated for Chautauqua County Schools

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) announced that Chautauqua County school districts will see approximately $9,009,000 in direct federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act according to new estimates based on a Congressional Research Service (CRS) analysis. 

“Local schools are facing economically challenging times,” said Congressman Higgins.  “These federal dollars will inject new, unanticipated investments into our local schools, improving education, preventing teacher lay-offs and saving local property taxpayers money.”

District allocations are based on existing formulas for the distribution of Title 1 and IDEA funding, which help disadvantaged and disabled students respectively. In addition to the funding detailed above New York State will receive $3,033,637,000 in the State Stabilization funds that are dedicated to education programs.
