Press Release

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced the winners of the annual Congressional Art Competition. The top piece from each congressional district is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the Capitol Building.

“Artistic expression is an integral part of a student’s education,” said Congressman Higgins, a Member of the Congressional Arts Caucus. “I am always impressed to see the quality work that students submit to this competition and am proud to display Aniyah’s piece in the U.S. Capitol to represent our district.”

Over 90 submissions from high schools throughout the district were on display in the first floor lobby of the Larkin building from April 28th through May 4th. On Sunday, May 4th, Congressman Higgins hosted a ceremony for teachers, students and their families where the top winners were announced.
