Higgins Announces Application Period for Federal Fire Prevention & Safety Grants

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is now accepting applications for grants through the Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Program.

“These grants continue to support America’s national and regional emergency preparedness and enhance community safety,” said Congressman Higgins.  “We encourage local organizations and departments to apply.”

This year $34.5 million dollars has appropriated for the FP&S program aimed at specifically targeting projects and programs that mitigate incidences of death and injuries caused by fire among high-risk populations including children, seniors and firefighters.

Grant information is available on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website at: www.fema.gov/fire-prevention-safety-grants.   Features include key programmatic updates and application requirements as well as an application checklist and answers to frequently asked questions.
