Congressman Brian Higgins announced that two agencies in Chautauqua County will receive $740,000 in state and federal funds for programs aimed at enhancing and stabilizing Chautauqua County communities. Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corp will receive $490,000 and Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. will be awarded $250,000 through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).

The effort, funded by a $500,000 grant through the New York State Community Enhancement Facilities Assistance Program and a $125,000 match from the City of Buffalo, involves the repair and replacement of neighborhood sidewalks and curbs.

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) announced that New York State will release $17.6 million in federal Recovery Act funds for a Buffalo Sewer Authority, Erie County project that will provide sewer overflow abatement work. The funding will be used to support planning, design and construction of the Hamburg Drain Control Facility, which collects and processes input from twenty sewer regulators within the Hamburg drain system. This project is also an essential component of Buffalo’s Inner Harbor redevelopment.
