Today, Tuesday, May 12, 2009, Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) will introduce the Cancer Drug Coverage Parity Act, a bill to require health insurance coverage for intravenous/injectable and orally-administered cancer pills at the same rate.

Today, Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) announced that the $250 economic recovery payments for Social Security recipients, which were provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will begin to go out on May 7 – with the goal of all these payments being sent out by the end of May. New York will receive $845.6 million, with $34.89 million going to residents directly in Congressman Higgins’ district, the highest in the state.

Today Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27), Mayor Sam Teresi and Chautauqua County Legislator Chuck Cornell announced that Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation, a member of the national NeighborWorks® network, has received $170,000 in capital grants from NeighborWorks® America, which will again support the agency’s affordable housing and community development activities in Jamestown’s Buy Northside! neighborhood, at a time when Chautauqua County communities need investment the most. This funding is in addition to the $490,000 Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant for CHRIC announced just two weeks ago.
