Press Release
Students, Parents, School Administrators & Guidance Counselors are invited to Informational Meeting

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) will host Academy Night 2015, an opportunity for high school students, families, school administrators and counselors to find out more about service academy institutions, programs and the application process.

“We invite those interested to come and hear about the schools first-hand from academy representatives,” said Congressman Higgins.

Representatives from the U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Air Force Academy and R.O.T.C programs will be in attendance.  Each of the military academies will be on hand to provide more information about the admissions process, how to request a nomination, and provide additional details about their program.

Service Academy Night will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Williamsville South High school, 5950 Main Street in Williamsville.

Service Academy appointments are made by the President of the United States based on congressional and/or military nominations.  Each year Congressman Higgins appoints an Academy Advisory Board, made up of WNY veterans and community leaders, to interview all applicants and make recommendations.

Information about the application and nomination process can be found on Rep. Higgins’ website at:  https://higgins.house.gov/services/service-academy-nominations/service-academy-nominations-faq .
