Congressman Higgins Attends Ribbon Cutting for 21 Brix Winery
Apr 21, 2012
Congressman Brian Higgins visited Olde Chautauqua Vineyard in the Town of Portland to celebrate the grand opening of farm’s 21 Brix Winery.
Olde Chautauqua Vineyard received a Value-Added Producer grant totaling $299,999 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Rural Development funds are made available to agricultural businesses looking to expand their market.
“It’s great to see the growth of an over 50-year family agricultural business as it evolves and expands for the next generation of family leaders,” said Congressman Higgins.
Michael and Marion Jordan are the owners of Olde Chautauqua Farms. The Jordan’s sons, Kris Kane and Bryan Jordan, operate the winery. The doors to the new 21 Brix Winery first opened last fall on the 225 acre vineyard. Senator Catharine Young was among the other visitors cutting the ribbon on the new business.
21 Brix Winery is located at 6654 West Main Road in Portland. More information is available at: www.21Brix.com.
