Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced the House of Representatives approved a spending agreement, which funds several federal departments and programs through September 30, 2019, the end of the federal fiscal year.  Action by both the House and the Senate, followed by a signature by the President, will avert another government shutdown like the one recently orchestrated by the President.

Habiba Mohamed was born in a refugee camp in Kenya, where her parents lived after fleeing the war in Somalia.  She lived in the camp for most of her childhood years, until the age of 14 when her family was resettled in Buffalo, New York.  Congressman Higgins first came to know Habiba when she took an internship in his Buffalo district office while attending college.
