Congressman Higgins Announces $1.335 Million For Chadwick Bay Economic Development Project
Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) announced that Chautauqua County has been awarded $1.335 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce for an infrastructure project that will aid economic development in the Dunkirk area.
“This is the latest in a series of significant federal investments that will create jobs locally and make Dunkirk area a more attractive place for businesses, residents and tourists,” said Higgins. Earlier this year, Congressman Higgins announced $3.5 million for the Dunkirk Airport and $1.196 million for the Dunkirk Harbor.
The funding, authorized through the Economic Development Administration, will support the construction of three roads and related infrastructure to improve the North County Industrial Corridor, which surrounds Chadwick Bay Industrial Park. Total project cost is estimated to be $2.67 million.
U.S. Department of Commerce Public Works and Economic Development Program investments help support the construction or rehabilitation of essential public infrastructure and facilities necessary to generate or retain private sector jobs and investments, attract private sector capital, and promote regional competitiveness.
This project is expected to create 146 jobs and leverage $48 million in private sector investment.
