Officials from Signature Development celebrated the most recent phase of its Chandler Street revival with grand openings of 27 and 37 Chandler St. These once longabandoned warehouses have been renovated and transformed into approximately 35,000 square feet of workspace for food service companies. To date, Signature Development CEO Rocco Termini said, his company has invested about $50 million to rehab four abandoned buildings on a rejuvenated Chandler Street that had sat dormant and required extensive remediation and rehabilitation.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the completion of Linwood Lafayette Senior Apartments in Buffalo, a new $11.6 million affordable housing development with 37 apartments for older New Yorkers. The development will also include support services that allow people with intellectual or developmental disabilities to live independently. The apartments were constructed on the site of the vacant Millard Fillmore Hospital in the Gates Circle neighborhood of Buffalo, offering residents easy access to public transportation and retail.
Today, Congressman Brian Higgins and City of Niagara Falls officials opened the Hyde Park Inclusionary Playground. The new play space was designed for children of all mobility and behavioral abilities and gained community support via the Niagara Falls Community Development Department’s participatory budgeting process.
Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) announced Niagara County has been awarded $450,000 in federal funding through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Assessment and Cleanup Grant Program. Brownfield sites are properties, often previously used for industrial purposes, where reuse may be difficult due to site contaminants.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the completion of the $6 million transformation of a former parish hall into the new Gerard Place Community Center on the East Side of Buffalo. Gerard Place works to eliminate barriers which prevent people from escaping poverty. Gerard Place has expanded its Bailey Avenue services, providing opportunities for local residents to complete their education, develop job skills and provide childcare for families, as well as bridge the food desert gaps in the high need Bailey-Delevan community.
