Public Safety & Gun Violence Prevention

Working to build safer neighborhoods, Brian supports federal funding and programs such as the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG), Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER), Justice Assistance Grants (JAG), and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) programs. In addition, Brian fought for local funding in the American Rescue Plan which delivered millions of dollars to Western New York for police and fire equipment, staffing, and community violence intervention programs. Following the May 14, 2022 mass shooting in Buffalo, Brian also supported passage of the bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which included a comprehensive and common sense approach to addressing gun violence as well as public safety investments in schools and communities.
