Investing in our infrastructure has historically been a non-partisan issue. However, in recent years, Congress’ investment in addressing America’s crumbling infrastructure has been pathetically weak. The American Society of Civil Engineers gives our infrastructure a D+ grade and the World Economic Forum ranks America 24th in infrastructure. Transportation for America estimates that there are 63,000 structurally deficient bridges in the United States – 2088 in New York State and 99 in Western New York alone. Brian has consistently called on Congress to make a bold investment in nation building right here at home. In 2012 he introduced the Nation Building Here at Home Act , which would have invested $1.2 trillion over five years to rebuild our infrastructure, with the potential to create 27 million jobs and reduce unemployment to 5.6 percent.

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced Erie County has been awarded over $4.15 million in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced three new projects to expand Buffalo's waterfront and build on the region's community and economic growth in order to attract more visitors and offer new recreational and cultural opportunities for residents. Approximately $24 million will improve water access, highlight Western New York's rich history, and support the continued growth of the area's tourism sector, which generated more than $3 billion in direct visitor spending in 2017.

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) is calling on the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to take immediate proactive action to ease traveler inconvenience during rehabilitation of the Buffalo Skyway.
Construction on the Skyway is expected to begin in March 2018 and continue through June 2020. During construction, one or both lanes of the Skyway will be closed for multiple hours each day. Total cost of the project is nearly $30 million.
Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26) celebrated $2 million in investments in Buffalo & Erie County Greenway projects made possible through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) relicensing agreement with the New York Power Authority.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (PBA) are jointly pursuing new technologies, which will allow for the long-stalled redevelopment of the U.S.
